The Doggy Few, an Irish party band based in Groningen, Holland, has everything it takes for a "grand" afternoon or evening of solid Irish "craic". The Dogs deliver, whether it's a large ceilidh hall performance with dancing girls, or a nice quiet musical background for your function ..... Dance hall, pub, concert, wedding, Holy Communion, or authentic Irish session in your garden, livingroom or kitchen, the Dogs are up for it......
The music
Jigs, reels, stirring and lively dance music. Heartbreaking stories in song and utter madness disguised as Irish poetry. The craic, as Irish as it can be...... Traditionals and songs made famous by The Pogues, Dubliners, Clancys, Planxty: rough and rowdy songs about drink, graft, women and war,and poignant, melancholy ballads about sorrow and sadness, bitterness, grief. And of course, lots of happy songs about drink, more drink, hangovers, love, parting and reunion....
The name
"The Angelus bells, o'er the Liffey swells, rang out in the Foggy dew", the last line of the first verse of the famous ballad about the 1916 Easter rising. When the band needed a name, we remembered the night when somebody shouted: Hey, Doggy Few, gie's the Foggy Dew once more..!!!! That's how we got our name...
